April Ale-berta Feature: Sea Change Brewing

In our newest monthly feature, we pick a different Alberta brewery that we carry in-store to highlight their incredible brews being made close to home!

Our April Ale-berta feature is Sea Change Brewing. Launched in 2017 by a group of friends, they started as a single beer micro-brand with the launch of their Blonde Ale in pubs across the city, and grew to an award-winning staple in Alberta thanks to the team’s work ethic and community collaboration. They now have two tap rooms you can visit—one on the newly-named Happy Beer Street and the other in Beaumont—their Edmonton location houses their production brewery and Vietnamese subs, while their Beaumont location has a Mexican-themed menu.

Since their beginning, the beers of Sea Change have garnered many awards and accolades for their approachable styles meant for everyone to enjoy. Check them out for yourself — we carry the following beers from Sea Change in store at City Cellars:

Sea Change Blonde Ale

Sea Change's flagship beer, their Blonde is the ultimate dad beer that is approachable and enjoyable for everyone. This simple and classic ale is made with Alberta barley and cascade hops for a subtle, easy drinking brew. It has a smooth mouthfeel with a soft, malty bread-like character with subdued bitterness and a citrus hop note.

Sea Change Irish Red Ale

The Irish Red is easy drinking and approachable for fans of darker beer styles and traditional Irish reds. It has prevalent soft toffee and caramel notes paired with mild bitterness. Its well-rounded malt flavours, paired with refreshing crispness, draw you in with every sip. Plus the snakes on the can are a nod to St. Patrick chasing out the snakes in Ireland!

Sea Change Prairie Fairy

The Prairie Fairy is a blackberry and raspberry wheat ale with a striking pink hue and 7 pounds of berries in each keg! It’s bold, refreshing and just a little bit tart. Fun fact - the Prairie Fairy concept recognizes and embraces the long and distinct history of LGBTQ2S+ peoples on the Canadian prairies!

Sea Change The Wolf Hazy Pale Ale

The Wolf is a New-England style Pale Ale that’s hazy and smooth with just enough hops presence to be interesting. It’s also a back-to-back gold-winner for Best Sessionable Hoppy Beer at the Alberta Beer Awards! It has notes of pineapple, passionfruit, stonefruit and a citrus aroma and flavour.
