Our next case club is all about Australian wines! This discounted selection of six diverse and high quality wines will help you get to know the Australian wine world a little better - or if you’re already a fan, each of these wines are wonderful representatives for the different Australian wine regions!
This month’s wine six pack includes:
Montalto Pennon Hill Chardonnay
Located in the Mornington Peninsula, Montalto’s Pennon Hill range of wines showcase the qualities the region is known for - perfume, purity, varietal expression and brightness.
Aged 9 months in oak prior to bottling, this award-winning Chardonnay features aromas of white peach, apple blossom, roasted almonds and hazelnuts and lemon and lime sherbet, rounded out by brioche and gentle oak aromas. The citrus and stone fruit flavours are supported by great acidity and generous texture. Australian Chardonnay is truly underrated, think subtle California Chardonnay meets refined Chablis. This is an exceptional value perfect for your first foray into the category.
Pewsey Vale Eden Valley 1961 Block Riesling
Pewsey Vale is a special vineyard, only growing the single varietal of Riesling - their focus and passion. The 1961 Block Riesling is pristine with aromas and flavours of lemon myrtle and tea tree blossom. Perfect to drink as a young wine, but will age beautifully for 15 or more years! Pairs perfect with vegetable spring rolls or sushi.
Peter Lehmann Layers Red Blend
Peter Lehmann, it is said, saved the Barossa. When the government was encouraging growers to pullout their lower-yielding ancient grape vines in plant orange trees (!!) he ventured out and started his own winery to ensure these treasured vines would not be destroyed. Today the oldest Cabernet, Grenache, Shiraz, and Mourvedre in the world are all found in the Barossa. Many of these grower contracts still exist and it is this variety of fruit that allows the winery to offer diverse, high quality wines at great values. The Layers Red Blend is a beautiful, multidimensional red incorporating classic and lesser known varieties. Shiraz is the base of course, blended with Mourvedre, Tempranillo and Grenache. Loaded with red and black fruits, complemented by herb and spice aromas and with a palate of ripe, sweet fruit with a vanilla backbone. Perfect to pair with a casserole or fruity cheese.
Yalumba Organic Shiraz
Certified organic, the Yalumba Shiraz from South Australia has a medium body with complex aromas and flavours of violets, lavender, blueberries, plum and forest floor. Plush, soft tannins combine with a bright, juicy and long finish. A perfect pairing with lasagna or bruschetta.
Bill Downie Petit Verdot
From the Yarra Valley, this wine is a feat in itself, produced from the difficult grape of Petit Verdot from an area known not for quality or quantity. But it’s a home run needless to say, with no interventions or additions, and sadly this vintage is the last one that will ever be produced. On the nose, rich dark berry, ink and violets, with a ripe, fleshy palate with rustic tannins but bright and juicy nonetheless.
Voyager Estate Girt by Sea Cabernet-Merlot
Not your typical Cabernet - this wine from the Margaret River region is juicy and elegant with a strong coastal influence. On the nose, red and dark berries, spice bay leaf and cedar. On the palate, it’s smooth, juicy, bright and fresh with fine tannins. Pairs great with barbecued steak or meat-based pasta.
After the discount, this six pack can be yours for only $158- a wicked deal for these high quality Aussie wines. Contact us today to reserve this month’s case club!
