September Ale-berta Feature: Born Brewing

Updated: Sep 12, 2023

In our newest monthly feature, we pick a different Alberta brewery that we carry in-store to highlight their incredible brews being made close to home!

This month’s Ale-berta feature is Born Brewing (formerly known as Born Colorado). The brewery’s founder and head brewer, Wade Brown, was born and raised in Colorado, where he cultivated a passion for quality crafted beer. After moving around the United States, he ultimately found his home in Calgary in 2012. Once again settled at the base of the Rocky Mountains, Wade embarked on his greatest adventure yet…to bring a bit of his home to Canada.

Born Brewing was founded in April 2018 in the middle of Calgary’s Barley Belt by Wade and his partner Erin McQuitty. Their founding principle is that beers are more than just a beverage — they accompany a lot of laughter, fun and adventure along the way. That’s why they brew crisp, fresh and unique beers that will have you itching for your next journey.

Here are some of the tasty beers from Born Brewing available in store now!

Hi Cutie! Mint Raspberry Wheat Ale

What used to be a summer seasonal is now available year-round — this light, fruity and fresh wheat ale is sure to be a crowd pleaser. Hi Cutie!’s measured blend of mint, raspberry and wheat flavours cries out to be enjoyed on a warm day. Though it’s packed with fresh flavour, you never forget that you’re drinking beer. A runner-up at the Made in Alberta Awards, you also can’t resist the irresistibly cute branding!

Autumn Amber

Caramel and toast define this traditional American Amber. Light and toasty with a strong malty backbone, this beer will be perfect for both fans of the amber style, and anyone looking for a slightly cozier alternative to their usual lagers. In addition to being lovely on its own, the Autumn Amber will pair beautifully with heartier fare as the weather begins to cool!
